Besides, it is a short-term medication, so the user should not be longer than four weeks.

Is Ativan narcotic medicine

It is not a narcotic medicine; Ativan is a benzodiazepine that produces narcotic effects. It may have side effects that become severe if someone overdose or misuses the drug.

However, the use of Lorazepam, along with antihistamine medications, probably give interactions and severe side effects. Further, it is a controlled substance that is illegal to use without a doctor’s approval. Ativan comes in an oral solution and injections.

Lorazepam is also helpful for spasms, alcohol withdrawal, insomnia, or seizures for treating anxiety disorders.

Does it help with depression?

It is an approved medicine to treat anxiety disorders and the short0-term relief of anxiety by the FDA. Further, it is also useful in treating anxiety associated depression but is not to use anxiety related to everyday life hurdles like worries and stress.

What does Ativan do to the brain?

Benzodiazepines are (CNS) central nervous system depressant that slows down the brain and body’s functions and activity.

It directly affects the GABA receptors; they produce electrical activity in nerves and brains to slow down after the person consumes the medication.
